Host families must complete and agree with terms of our hosting application and meet deadlines for deposits and payments.
Host families are required to submit a home study or home assessment report prepared by a licensed social worker as well as state level police clearance checks and child abuse checks for any household member 18 years of age and older.
Families are responsible for paying a host fee which includes cost of child's airfare, visa, passport, portion of guardian travel, medical insurance for emergency health needs, and other costs associated with international travel . This fee for our program is apporximately $2,600. Final cost may differ and is dependent upon flight availability and cost at time of booking.
Host fees include cost of travel for children to and from NYC Host families are required to meet or arrange child's travel to and from the host home. Depending on the number of children in a particular region of the United States, a group may be flown into another city.
Host families will be responsible for all expenses associated with meeting the child's needs during the visit, including food, clothing, and personal care items.
Prior to hosting, all families must read the host manual and training materials supplied by World Orphan Project, Inc.
Host families must provide a safe and loving home for their host child and to make the child's safety throughout the host trip a priority.

Host family requirements
During the sign-up period, pictures of children available to participate in our host program will be posted on a password protected picture page along with their ages.
Families interested in hosting must complete the password request form. You will be emailed the password. Do not share the password with others or post online.
In order to place a child on hold, contact our office. You will be sent instructions for completing the pre-application process. Children can be held only a short time and are not considered hosted until you complete all pre-application requirements and are approved by our organization.
After receiving and reviewing your pre-application, we will forward our full application packet to you which includes instructions, agreements, dates, fees, and deadlines for hosting.
All paperwork including home studies and clearance checks must be completed by the deadlines outlined in the application packet.
Please note that the final decision of matching a particular child with a host family is made by us. We understand that many families are hoping for a certain gender or age of child to host, but it is our responisbility to place each child in a host home that we feel would be the best fit for both child and family.
